Our Story

About Truleaf.org

A discovery engine for plant science — and an open platform for botanics, researchers, and R&D teams worldwide.

Our Mission

Truleaf.org started with a simple belief: growing plants shouldn't require expensive consultants or confusing spreadsheets. What began as a set of free tools for home gardeners has grown into something bigger — a discovery engine for plant science that serves botanics at every scale, researchers in academia, and R&D teams developing the next generation of agricultural inputs.

We combine agricultural research, soil science, mycology, and modern technology into an open platform built on peer-reviewed research, extension-service publications, and community validation. Whether you're growing herbs on a balcony or mapping whitespace for a biologicals pipeline, the same structured, citable science powers everything you see.

Built for every grower — and the scientists behind them

From a single raised bed to a multi-acre greenhouse, from a university lab to a biologicals R&D pipeline — Truleaf adapts to how you work with plants.

Our Approach

Science-Backed

Every plant profile and nutrient recommendation is grounded in agricultural research — spanning hydroponics, soil science, and mycology. We cite our sources and continuously update our database as new studies emerge.

Free & Accessible

Core tools are free forever. We believe every botanic — from hobbyist to commercial — and every researcher should have access to quality growing information, regardless of budget.

Community-Driven

Botanics and researchers across all disciplines — hydroponic, soil, greenhouse, outdoor, lab — contribute recipes, tips, and feedback that make Truleaf.org better for everyone.

Open Platform

Truleaf is built as an open discovery layer for plant science. We structure and surface research so that growers can act on it and scientists can build on it — reducing the distance between a published paper and a growing decision.

Our Data & Methodology

The plant data in Truleaf.org is compiled from multiple authoritative sources across all growing disciplines:

Each plant profile undergoes validation to ensure accuracy. When scientific consensus varies, we provide ranges rather than single values, and note where conditions may affect results.

Get in Touch

Have questions, feedback, or want to contribute? Whether you're a grower, a researcher, or an R&D team — we'd love to hear from you.
